The largest Diamond ever found is not on Earth but faraway across the galaxy. Discovered in 2004 and weighing a whopping 10 billion trillion trillion carats it is the size of a planet and has been nicknamed "Lucy" after the Beatles famous song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

Arguably the most famous Engagement Ring in the world, the stunning 12-carat blue Sapphire & Diamond Cluster once owned by Princess Diana and now by the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was recently top of a list of jewellery that's increased in value most since it was originally bought. Originally purchased by Prince Charles in 1981 for £28,000, it's present value is said to be in the region of £300,000 !!

Marie Curie Cancer Care was started back in 1948 with the donation of a Single Diamond Ring left in a Will, and without this generous gift they would not be in existence today !!

"47th Street" in New York is the largest shopping district in the world for Diamonds, where around 90% of all Diamonds that enter the United States go through the 2,600 independent shops along the street - and Mr Allan had a stroll down it earlier this year !!

Mr Allan Jewellers had the privelege of producing the iconic BELIEVE lapel badge proudly worn by Roberto Martinez
at WIGAN's historic FA Cup Final Victory at Wembley 2013.
The badge was designed by us and crafted at our workshops from Sterling Silver and Blue Enamel and has a discreet deep blue Sapphire dotting the 'i' and we hope you spotted it in the press !!

As part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations she displayed a selection of her magnificent jewellery collection to the public at Buckingham Palace. For the first time in decades, the public were given an unparalleled opportunity to see up close some of the finest treasures from the Royal Collection, including  the magnificent crown by Garrard worn by Queen Victoria for her own official Diamond Jubilee portrait back in 1897 !!  Mr Allan was there and agrees it was a fantastic and unique experience.

The Queen of Diamonds.... many would acknowledge as being the late Elizabeth Taylor who "sparkled" both on and off screen, and her incredible jewellery collection was showcased recently in a captivating documentary. The 'Auction of a Lifetime' catalogue has been acquired by Mr Allan, and can be viewed in the shop, on request.

The most expensive piece of jewellery made for a movie was a $1m necklace Nicole Kidman wore in Moulin Rouge (2001), which had 134 carats of Diamonds in a stunning platinum setting.

15 carat is a quality of gold unique to Great Britain. The standard was discarded in 1932 and 15ct jewellery is now rapidly becoming 'collectable' in its own right, giving you the opportunity to own a small piece of the glamorous history of jewellery.
